If you experience a safety incident, please report it to the local police and the National Association of REALTORS®, through the REALTOR® Safety Network. In addition, please share your experience with CAAR (communications@caar.com) and post it on the CAAR Facebook group (members-only).

Beware of realtor.com Lead Scams

Realtor.com Cash Buyer Scam Warning issued July 2022

Several members have contacted CAAR recently regarding realtor.com lead scams. If contacted by a realtor.com lead, please proceed with caution. Look for red flags, including:

Only communicating with you via email and text
Typos or misspellings in correspondence
Seller requests the price of the property to be mark below market value to generate a quick sale, a cash purchaser is preferred
Validate the driver's license is valid - do your due diligence and cross check information with public records to verify you are talking with the actual owner of the property - seek additional resources or help to validate information is accurate (e.g., an agent in another state)
If you receive a check, do not deposit it into your bank account - check with you bank to ensure it is authentic

Realtor.com Cash Buyer Scam Warning

Issued July, 2022

Several members have been contacted in recent weeks via Realtor.com by an individual who identified himself as John Rahman, email rahmanjohn051@gmail.com. He fraudulently claims to be a cash buyer. Be cautious and don’t conduct business or transfer money with anyone unless you have confirmed they are a legitimate person and can produce proof of funds. Realtor.com has been notified of this fake buyer and scam.
