Code of Ethics - REALTOR® Requirement

Updated as of 12-13-24

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) requires REALTORS® to complete the Code of Ethics course every three-years. The current three-year cycle started on Sat., Jan. 1st, 2022 and ends on Tues., Dec. 31st, 2024. Per the CAAR Bylaws, an appraiser is a REALTOR®; therefore, this requirement applies to appraisers.

If you have completed a Code of Ethics course with a vendor other than with CAAR (see list below), please email your certificate of completion to education@caar.com by Mon, Dec. 16th

  • Moseley-Flint Real Estate School – 2023 – 2024 certificate of completion (Ethics & Standards of Conduct)
  • Moseley Real Estate School (Ethics & Standards of Conduct)
  • The CE Shop (Ethics at Work)
  • Your brokerage

You have likely fulfilled this requirement when you renewed your real estate license. Unfortunately, the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), does not automatically pass on this information to REALTOR® associations.

If you have not taken the Code of Ethics course, you can satisfy this requirement by attending one of the following courses at the Hillsdale Conference Center:

  • Tues., Apr. 23rd, 8 – 10:50 a.m., Hillsdale Conference Center | Code of Ethics & Standards of Conduct with CAAR instructor Donna Patton – $45 registration fee (3 hrs. of Ethics and Standards of Conduct Continuing Education (CE)/Post-License Education (PLE) credits)
  • Thurs., Apr. 25th, 9 a.m. – Noon, Hillsdale Conference Center | Code of Ethics & Standards of Conduct with CAAR instructor Donna Patton – $45 registration fee (3 hrs. of Ethics and Standards of Conduct CE/PLE credits)
  • Thurs., July 11th, 9 a.m. – Noon, Hillsdale Conference Center | Code of Ethics & Standards of Conduct with CAAR instructor Pat Widhalm – $45 registration fee (3 hrs. of Ethics and Standards of Conduct CE/PLE credits)
  • Thurs., July 18th, 8- 10:50 a.m., Hillsdale Conference Center | Code of Ethics & Standards of Conduct with CAAR instructor Pat Widhalm – $45 registration fee (3 hrs. of Ethics and Standards of Conduct CE/PLE credits)
  • Thurs., Oct. 10th, 9 a.m. – Noon, Hillsdale Conference Center | Code of Ethics & Standards of Conduct with CAAR instructor Donna Patton – $45 registration fee (3 hrs. of Ethics and Standards of Conduct CE/PLE credits)
  • Thurs., Oct. 17th, 8 – 10:50 a.m., Hillsdale Conference Center | Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct with instructor Pat Widhalm – $45 registration fee (3 hrs. of Ethics and Standards of Conduct CE/PLE credits)
  • Tues., Oct. 22nd, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Hillsdale Conference Center/Zoom | Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) 507 – Ethics & Professional Responsibility with CAAR instructor Reggie Copeland – $90 registration fee (early bird registration ends Wed., Oct. 16th) (4 hrs. of Ethics and 2 hrs. Fair Housing CE credits/ 3 hrs. Ethics and 2 hrs. Fair Housing PLE credits)
  • Mon., Dec. 2nd, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Hillsdale Conference Center| Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct with CAAR instructor Michael Guthrie – $45 registration fee (3 hrs. of Ethics and Standards of Conduct CE/PLE credits)
  • Tues., Dec. 3rd, 1 – 4 p.m., Hillsdale Conference Center | Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct with CAAR instructor Michael Guthrie – $45 registration fee (3 hrs. of Ethics and Standards of Conduct CE/PLE credits)

You also have two complimentary options:

These complimentary options do not include CE/PLE credits. You will need your NAR credentials to access these options.

**Please note** If you do not complete the Code of Ethics requirement by Tues., Dec. 31st, 2024, your REALTOR® membership will be suspended until you have completed the requirement at CAAR or provided a certificate of completion.
